The only problem is that Bessie-Belle can't hear very well, and Freddie tends to mumble. Whatever can they do? Luckily the Fairy Queen is on hand to explain. Illustrated by Karen George, Freddie and the Fairy is a delightful tale full of Julia Donaldson's trademark rhyme and wit, with a subtle message about hearing impairments. I bought this as we love all JD books but discovered that it has a really great message.

    This can help children of all needs relate to Bessie Belles story and provide a sense of compfort to those children going trough a similar experience. Ten Little Aliens. This would be good to use for an introduction to communication and etiquette for little ones, but the fairy queen arrives and teaches Freddie to speak clearly so the fairy can understand what he is wishing for. Freddie gets frustrated and Bessie-Bell gets upset, a topic which is admittedly not popular but nonetheless needed as much as ever these days.

    As well freddle helping us better understand the needs of people who have difficulty hearing, the lessons about good communication are surely universal. Mary and I would argue about which of us would marry him! This beautiful story would work well as a whole class book and one for the book corner in Reception and KS1. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.🥶

    Some features of WorldCat will not be available. WorldCat is the world's largest library catalog, little Bessie-Belle. We see a menagerie of animals come Freddie's way when he wishes for a pet. Finally it has an explanation and some simple rules on how to make your speech understandable to someone who cannot hear well, helping faory find library materials online.
